Gummy Smile FAQS

your questions answered

This treatment works by injecting Botox into the hyperactive muscle of the upper lip, causing it to become less elevated when smiling. The Botox works by blocking the nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected, resulting in muscle relaxation and less exposure of gum. The entire procedure takes about 10-30 minutes.

The primary aim of this treatment is to reduce the excessive gum exposure that occurs when you smile. Post-treatment, your smile will be more balanced and aesthetically pleasing, with a harmonious ratio of teeth to gum. Your upper lip will sit in a more relaxed and natural position, not retracting as much when you smile. This will ensure that the emphasis is on your teeth rather than your gums.

It typically takes between 10-14 days for the full effect of the treatment to become visible as the Botox needs time to work on the muscles around the mouth. However, some patients may start to notice subtle changes as early as 3-5 days afterwards.

For a gummy smile Botox treatment, the results typically last between 3 to 4 months. However, with regular treatments, the effects can last longer over time.

The injection is administered into the hyperactive muscles of upper lip. This reduces the upward movement of lip thus reducing the gummy smile appearance. However the exact injection sites may vary between individuals based on their unique facial structure and desired results.

Gummy smile Botox treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that generally causes little to no discomfort. The needles used are incredibly fine.

An Outstanding Practice!

“My wife and I have been patients at this practice for many years and we are extremely happy with the service provided. From the minute you enter the practice the staff are polite, friendly and welcoming, which when you are nervous of dentists is extremely helpful. The dentists themselves are extremely professional and have on a number of occasions started the day earlier to accommodate my working shift pattern to complete work on my teeth, which has been invaluable. I have also had treatment with the Hygienist at the practice and again friendly and professional is the theme throughout this practice. Overall an outstanding practice and cannot recommend enough.”
