Excessive Sweating FAQS

your questions answered

The placement of the injections is typically in the areas most affected by hyperhidrosis. These can include the underarms, palms of the hands, soles of the feet, and sometimes, the face. The exact locations will be determined by our experienced practitioner, taking into account your specific symptoms and needs. The injections are usually placed just below the surface of the skin, where they can effectively block the nerve signals that trigger excessive sweating.

Botox doesn’t completely stop the sweating process. It works by blocking the nerves that activate your sweat glands. Therefore, you won’t sweat in the areas where Botox has been injected, but other parts of your body will still produce sweat normally.

Botox for hyperhidrosis treatment is FDA approved and safe when administered by one of our experienced clinicians. We’ll discuss all the potential risks and benefits with you prior to your treatment.

The success of Botox in controlling excessive sweating lasts for 3-4 months, after which time the treatment needs to be repeated. Therefore, while Botox offers significant relief from the symptoms of hyperhidrosis, ongoing treatment is required to maintain these results.

Results should be noticeable within a few days to 2 weeks after the procedure. The relief from excessive sweating typically lasts between 3 to 4 months. Obviously however, each individual patient is different. That’s why a consultation with our clinician beforehand is crucial to understanding the expected timeline and effectiveness of this treatment.

The experience of discomfort varies from person to person. Some patients report mild discomfort during the injection. However, the needles used are generally very small and the procedure relatively swift, which minimises any potential pain.

Outstanding Practice!

“My wife and I have been patients at this practice for many years and we are extremely happy with the service provided. From the minute you enter the practice the staff are polite, friendly and welcoming, which when you are nervous of dentists is extremely helpful. The dentists themselves are extremely professional and have on a number of occasions started the day earlier to accommodate my working shift pattern to complete work on my teeth, which has been invaluable. I have also had treatment with the Hygienist at the practice and again friendly and professional is the theme throughout this practice. Overall an outstanding practice and cannot recommend enough.”
